Meet the Founder

Ally Troia

Rockford native Ally Troia started 815Yoga out of her basement, clients’ homes, local parks, community gyms… anywhere she could lay down a yoga mat. Quickly she grew tired of her “mobile yoga studio” and decided it was time for a more suitable space. Ally opened the doors of 815Yoga when she was 23 years old and has since touched the hearts of more than 1,000 students through yoga. At 815Yoga she brings together ancient tradition and modern movement to provide challenging and FUN classes for an ever-growing community of like-minded individuals seeking growth and deeper connection.

In addition to group classes at 815Yoga, Ally offers private sessions for small groups, one-on-one sessions at the studio or in the comfort of your own home, and Reiki healing. She also loves to chat about all things yoga, veganism, and astrology over coffee!

Kimmy Freudenberg
Studio Manager // Teacher

Kimmy began her yoga journey in search of peace and balance in her life. Upon finding yoga, she fell in love with the practice and quickly incorporated it into her daily routine. Yoga gifted her with more than she ever expected, and soon she found herself surrounded by an incredibly supportive community. Her biggest desire is to help uplift and grow the Rockford yoga community. Kimmy received her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at 81Yoga through Blue Soul School of Yoga in the summer of 2018. When she’s not teaching yoga, you’ll find her spending time with her close-knit family and her dogs or planning trips to national parks with her husband, Joel.

Suzy Osborne

Suzy loves movement of all kinds. She was initially drawn to yoga in high school when she found it helped her to gain flexibility as a dancer. She went on to coach the varsity dance team at Boylan High School before deciding to pursue the path to becoming a yoga teacher. Suzy completed her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at 815Yoga through Blue Soul School of Yoga in the summer of 2018. She enjoys both practicing and teaching a variety of yoga styles including vinyasa and yin. Suzy is our 815Yoga ambassador for Ale Yeah Yoga held bi-monthly at Prairie Street Brewhouse. Wherever you find her, you’re in for a beautifully choreographed flow set to music that’ll make you want to get up and dance!

Jim White

Jim joined the 815Yoga team in the fall of 2017 as a substitute yoga teacher while he acquired his 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at Moksha Yoga Center in Chicago, and, in January 2018, he made his debut as one of the core instructors on the team. Jim now teaches several times a week, and, when he's not teaching, he finds his way back to the studio to be the student. His personal practice is strong yet gentle; you’ll feel this delicate balance of strength and ease in his teaching style, rooted in ancient yogic tradition. Jim has a calm and grounding presence in a studio full of women, and his classes are a true pleasure.

Joy Hodges

Joy loves staying active — if you go to her classes, you know this to be true. She started practicing yoga in 2015, drawn to the physical benefits, as so many Westerners are. Quickly, however, she began to see that yoga was so much more than physical exercise. As soon as she felt the mental and emotional benefits of the practice, she was hooked. Her practice became a daily ritual, and she knew she had to share this amazing thing called yoga with everyone she met. Joy completed her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at 815Yoga through Blue Soul School of Yoga in the summer of 2018. Her classes are the perfect mix of sweet and spicy, never without a challenge. You’ll leave sweaty and empowered to take on the day!

Cindy Li

Cindy began her yoga practice in Santa Barbara, California, where she learned to love a variety of yoga styles including Vinyasa, Yin, and Kundalini. She became enamored with the mind-body connection of the yoga practice as well as its healing and regenerative effects. She completed her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training through Yandara Yoga Institute in Sweden in the summer of 2018. Cindy effortlessly fuses traditional meditation practices into her asana classes and believes yoga is truly for everyone. When she is not at the studio, you can find her studying for pharmacy school or taking care of her plant babies. Join Cindy on the mat for an experience full of sweetness and authenticity!

Cecilia Garama

Nikki Ticknor

Nikki first discovered her passion for yoga as a way to cross-train for running. She leads workshops and classes specifically geared toward improving strength and flexibility for runners. Nikki also infuses her love for music into her classes — if you’ve been to her classes, you know what we mean!

Nikki is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Domestic Violence Professional and uses her background in mental health to provide trauma-informed yoga classes in addition to exploring the use of yoga as treatment for depression, anxiety, and trauma.

Nikki is a life-long Rockford resident and is excited to share her love of yoga with the Rockford community!

Jessie is our superhero yoga sub! She never fails to save the day when we need her most. Her classes shine with love and sweetness, mixed in with a sneaky dose of strength and power!
